Akey Bracket Composite - 01/30/2020

Happy Thursday! Here is today's bracketology.

ABC Bracketology - 01/30/2020

A few notes about the bracket:
Business is booming for:
-The Atlantic-10 conference: This bracket highlights Dayton getting a 1-seed, along with Rhode Island and VCU in the tournament safely without having to play play-in games. We'll see if these three teams can carry their conference until the tourney.
-Villanova: Winners of seven straight, the Wildcats have moved up to a 2-seed.Their next three games (Creighton, Butler, Seton Hall) will be very telling of how good this team actually is.
-Virginia: With a big win over the 'Noles, Virginia is now in the tournament with a bye. Hopefully the defending champs can find some offense and win some big ACC games down the stretch.
          -Honorable Mentions: Texas Tech, Marquette

Dreams are crumbling for:
-NC St.: With two straight losses to very beatable conference foes, the Wolfpack have slid out of the bracket. They'll likely have to pull an upset or two to make the tourney at this point.
-East Tennessee St. (and the SoCon): The Buccaneers were by far one of the most impressive mid-majors this year, with a road win over LSU on their resume. However, the Buccaneers' at-large hopes were likely dashed last night when they were inexplicably drubbed by Mercer. ETSU might need to win out to ensure a tournament spot.
-West Virginia: Hallelujah, West Virginia is no longer a 1-seed, even if RPI still loves them. With a loss to Texas Tech in a strange game, the Mountaineers are now the seventh overall seed.
-Florida St.: The Seminoles, with a loss to Virginia, have fallen to a 4-seed. This team should have no worries about falling too far or making the tournament, though.
Honorable Mentions: Richmond, Virginia Tech, Arkansas

-The ABC is not influenced by my opinion in any way. It is a formula that seeds teams based on a composite of rankings.

Akey Bracket Composite - 01/29/2020

Hi! Turns out my schedule for this semester is jam-packed Monday and Tuesday. I'll try to get a bracket out every day except those two.

Here is the bracketology for all games through 1/28 (So this does not include West Virginia's loss to Texas Tech. May the Mountaineers' reign of terror as a 1-seed finally end. Please.)

ABC Bracketology - 01/29/2020

-I'll do risers/fallers tomorrow. Sorry for the wait.

Akey Bracket Composite - 01/25/2020

Happy Saturday! Here's the ABC for all games through yesterday (1/24):

ABC Bracketology - 01/25/2020

The only real difference between this bracket and the last is the influence of the Purdue/Wisconsin game. Wisconsin fell hard to an 8-seed; Purdue is now the last at-large team with a bye in the tournament. VCU falls out.

Thanks for visiting!

Akey Bracket Composite - 01/24/2020

Happy Friday! Here is today's bracketology.

ABC Bracketology - 01/24/2020

About today's bracket:
-It's very similar to yesterday's. Minnesota is now in comfortably after beating Ohio St., and Mississippi St. fell out because of it.
-Liberty suffered a really bad loss to North Florida that may take them out of at-large contention.

Akey Bracket Composite - 01/23/2020

Hi! So sorry for the long wait! I've been very busy with classwork at the start of a new semester!

Here is today's (01/23/2020) ABC:

ABC Bracketology - 01/23/2020

About today's bracketology:
Business is booming for:
-USC (15-3): The Trojans pulled off an upset against Stanford, and solidified a tournament spot for now. They have a big game against the Oregon Ducks tonight.
-LSU (14-4): The Tigers haven't lost a game since December (ironically, to USC,) and have a few big wins in conference so far. Their win streak, including a recent win over Florida, has brought them up to a 5-seed. However, they have won almost every conference game by the skin of their teeth. Let's see if LSU can get some convincing conference wins in the future.
-NC St. (14-5): NC St. has won five straight, many over fellow bubble teams. The wolfpack now find themselves as a 10-seed. However, will their weak SOS might not be able to hold them up if they stumble.
-Honorable Mentions: Penn St., Iowa, Rhode Island, Mississippi St.

Dreams are crumbling for:
-Arkansas (14-4): After losing to Kentucky, the Razorbacks dropped a crucial game in Starkville. Not only did this put Mississippi St. in the tourney, but it dropped the hogs all the way to an 8-seed. Arkansas has to take some big conference games that are coming up to move back up in the ranks.
-Michigan (11-7): After their amazing non-conference showing, the Wolverines have dropped three straight games and are only 2-5 in Big Ten play. If Michigan can hold on here in conference, their out of conference SOS can definitely help boost them into the tourney.
-Memphis (14-4): Oof. The Tigers are coming off an absolute clobbering at Tulsa. Memphis doesn't have much room for error, since the American is looking stronger by the day with Houston, Wichita State, Cincinnati, Temple, and now Tulsa (apparently.) Let's see if the Tigers can rebound from this ugly, ugly showing
-Honorable mentions: UNI, Purdue, Texas Tech
